Dwayne Johnson’s Sitcom, Young Rock, will soon air an all-new episode this week. We finally witnessed the events that led to Dwayne naming himself “The Rock“, instead of Rocky Maivia. He had also started to climb the ladder of fame but had a hard time adjusting to it.
Young Rock was created in 2021 as a frame story that would revolve around the events that happened in Dwayne Johnson‘s life. From his early childhood in Hawaii to his graduating from the University of Miami, the show covers every aspect of The Rock’s life. It not only offers an insight into his life but shows us the lesser-known story behind the iconic figure.
It was seen on NBC for the first time on February 16th, 2021. Young Rock quickly became a hit series and was subsequently renewed and aired for a new season later that year. The current ongoing season began airing on November 4th, 2022. It follows the story after Dwayne loses the 2032 election.

Young Rock: The Cast Behind The Show
The producers of the show have been appreciated all over social media for their choice of actors since they resemble the actual younger versions of Dwayne a lot. His 1982 version, where he’s still in Hawaii, is played by Adrian Groulx. Adrian is a Canada Born actor whose other projects include The Christmas Cure & See.
Dwayne Johnson’s 15-year-old version is portrayed by Bradley Constant, who is still new to the industry. His main role was on Young Rock but he has played a few minor roles in Following Phil. Uli Latukefu plays the most significant 1990 version of Dwayne. Uli’s Other projects include shows like Marco Polo & Doctor Doctor, to name a few.
Young Rock Season 3 Episode 5: Recap
In the episode of Young Rock aired on December 9th, 2022, we see Dwayne and Randall hoping that the prime minister would consider their coffee trading deal. He’s summoned by her but finds her pondering over a picture of herself in the office. Angela Honig feels there’s something wrong with the picture and dislikes the fame she has gained by being the Prime Minister.
Dwyane helps her overcome this thought by recalling his own experience with fame. He talks about the time he was hated by everyone. Even if he won a match, the hate seemed to remain constant. His whole career lies on a single game in Chicago, which he ends up winning successfully.
To curb the hate, he comes up with a signature move called “The People’s Elbow,” which garners immense attention and soon becomes the reason for his increasing fame. His fans grew larger in number and came to his father, Rocky Johnson’s event just for him.
Although this is what Dwayne always wanted, the growing attention soon becomes invasive. He goes to hang out with his friend but is interrupted countless times by fans asking for a selfie or a drinking match. A similar thing happens when he’s at dinner with Dany.
The constant disturbance leads him to act rude toward some fans. Dany notices it and points out to him that he should be much kinder to his fans since this is something he has always desired. Dwayne realizes it and starts to accept fame and be grateful for it.
When he’s back in the ring in another match, he announces that since his fame has started to increase, he is changing the name his father gave to him. Dwayne’s stage name Rocky Maivia is then changed to the name we all know him as now, The Rock.

The next episode of Young Rock will be aired on December 9th, 2022. New episodes of the Dwayne Johnson show are released on Fridays, with each episode lasting around 22-25 minutes.

NBC takes up the airing of Young Rock. The show is seen on NBC at 8:30 pm ET & 7:30 pm CT. On-demand streaming of Young Rock is possible at Peaco*ck TV, but only 24 hours after the episode is aired on NBC.
